A broken line does not necessarily mean the chart failed. It often means that a market value was unavailable for that date and the site chose not to replace it with zero or a fabricated estimate. We counted the observations in the three-year history response to show where the gaps come from.
The calendar and the stored rows
October 19, 2023 through October 18, 2026 contains 1,096 calendar days: 782 weekdays and 314 weekend days. The API retained 1,080 dated benchmark rows for both metals. Sixteen calendar dates were therefore absent even before checking an individual market.
| Series | Total observations | Weekdays | Weekends |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gold SGE | 715 | 714 | 1 |
| Gold MCX | 760 | 757 | 3 |
| Gold LBMA-related | 11 | 8 | 3 |
| Silver SGE | 718 | 716 | 2 |
| Silver MCX | 761 | 758 | 3 |
| Silver LBMA-related | 13 | 10 | 3 |
Weekends explain only part of the gap
SGE and MCX observations were overwhelmingly recorded on weekdays. That is expected for exchange-related data, but weekends are not the whole explanation. There were 782 weekdays in the calendar, while gold SGE had 714 weekday observations and gold MCX had 757. Exchange holidays, missing source records, unmatched exchange rates and failed collection days can all leave a blank.
The few weekend records should not be interpreted as active weekend exchange trading. They may reflect the date on which a retained snapshot was written or a source's latest available close.
Why LBMA-related coverage is much shorter
The retained LBMA-related series contained only 11 gold and 13 silver values. This site does not possess a licensed continuous official LBMA benchmark history. It therefore keeps the limited vendor-supplied observations it can document instead of filling the chart with another London or spot series labelled as LBMA.
Connected lines do not create missing prices
The chart can connect one valid point to the next to make the direction readable. That visual segment does not mean a daily value existed between the two endpoints. Tooltips and tables show the stored observations; calculations exclude dates on which the market object is absent.
How to read the chart responsibly
Check the selected period, each line's actual start and end, and the source label together. Do not compare a short LBMA-related segment with a long SGE series as if both were equally complete. The counts above came from the public 1,095-day history requests on October 18, 2026 and will change as new daily rows are added.
