The Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE) lists several gold and silver products with different trading and delivery terms. This site uses the available Au9999 observation for gold and Ag(T+D) for silver, subject to the source and unit handling described on the methodology page.

The displayed SGE difference compares that observation with the site’s USD/oz spot benchmark after currency and unit conversion. The two inputs may have different timestamps, and holidays or stale values can reduce comparability.

The result is not a direct measure of Chinese consumer demand, imports, inventory, or policy. Those explanations require separate official statistics and market evidence.
